The Events Data Model

The HURIDOCS Events Data Model links two types of entities: Persons and Events. Persons are assigned a role in an Event, whether as a Victim, Perpetrator, Source of information or Intervening Party. This flexible model allows for complex incidents to be recorded accurately in a structured form.

For more detail on this idea, please read Chapter 1,2 and 3 of HURIDOCS Events Standard Formats - A Tool for Documenting Human Rights Violations (Second, Revised Edition), by Judith Dueck et al, and Who Did What to Whom? Planning and Implementing a Large Scale Human Rights Data Project by Patrick Ball.
